LARGE OR MULTI-SITE PRACTICES: 10+ computers

The server is a powerful computer running Windows 2000 Server with Terminal Services software. The workstations can be slow old computers running Terminal Services Client software. The workstations send keystrokes and mouse clicks to the server. All processing is done on the server. The server sends screen shots back to the workstations. On the main site, a 10-Mbit/s network is adequate. Satellite sites need ISDN or other high-bandwidth links to the main site.

Practice 2000 is based on Microsoft Access 2000. Microsoft says that Access 2000 is able to handle up to 50 concurrent users.
